Technology Class

Wow is this an incredible class for us. We really feel like we are getting down to the details of what life will be like on the field. We have labs twice a week where we are building and fixing things. During our lectures we are learning about electricity, water and plumbing. Our first assignment for this class (besides readings) was to build a list of all the non electrical tools we will want to bring to the field. Remember that electricity is a valuable commodity and so as much that you can do without it and still conserve time the better. They have some really great recommendations for what is worth doing without electricity and what is not.

On a lot of fields if you want ground beef you will be grinding your own

Oh yes and who doesn't make their toast over the stove. Hey you can make four slices at once.

One cannot live without waffles, but those can be made over the stove as well.

Fruit is seasonal, although people in the states don't know this. If you want fruit year round you have to dry it.

Atleast you will be working out and cooking at the same time :)

Sounds like really great information. I never thought about the fact that fruit is seasonal for most of the world... crazy.

Great post! Sounds like you guys are getting great training! We owned at least two of these things growing up...too bad we didn't have that stove top waffle iron...would have helped on those days we had to have pancakes cuz the current went out at the last minute! =)

I love the egg beater and the workout! :) Sounds like a very practical class. Sure glad you've had this opportunity to have this training. I guess we could even have waffles on camping trips!

Yep! over the nice even flame of the camp fire! I'm sure you wounldn't have them burned in one corner and runny in the other!

Do I detect a bit of sarcasm? How do you do pancakes...isn't it over a little gas stove?

Joel and Andi! I've been wondering about how your training is going, and then just now I got an oldish letter from Shirley (because the oman postal service is remarkably unorganized) that had your bulletin insert wrapped around it. I haven't gotten to read back through all your posts, but I'm glad to know you have a blog I can keep up with now!

Hey, I've been wanting one of those egg beaters for a long time! They are really nice to have for making waffles.
