Learning

Well I thought it might be helpful for those who are not here to get a snapshot of what we have been learning.  Classes have been great, so there is a lot that I could list, but I thought I would stick with the highlights.

-Culture and Language Aquisition: We learned the process New Tribes has put together for how to learn a language.  It was encouraging to find out there is a lot of support in the area.  The biggest emphasis right now is that building relationships with the people is essential to learning the language.

- Form and Meaning - We have learned the difficulties presented in translating the Bible.  We also learned that the meaning should be the most important part to uphold in the translating process, although the form should not be ignored.

-Leaning Styles - Joel and I realized we are on opposite extremes of the learning styles.  So it was interesting to learn about how weird he is :)

Our next batch of classes are: Foundational Bible Teaching (How to teach through the Bible), Love and Respect (who needs those :)) and communication skills.

Hey, thanks for writing about this. It's so interesting to hear what you're learning, and it makes me want to go to class with you! Learn on!

You'll be great complements to each other because you can help each other understand others since you are on the opposite extremes. And keep loving each other and growing in your love because you need it when you have different learning styles and other things too. I know you know this, but it's good to understand it better - your diff learning styles - so you can be patient and loving with each other. Love you guys and thanks for always taking the time to communicate what's going on with you.
